This is the price plan you are automatically connected to and is ideal for people who mainly use their phone in the evenings and weekends.

Benefit from standard1 calls that cost only 5p a minute at evenings and weekends2 and 30p a minute at all other times. Texts are 12p for a standard text3 and picture messaging is 36p per message. It’s simple and means you can chat freely knowing that you have a price plan that suits you perfectly.

For both smartplus and smartstep price plans you can buy 30 day packs which give you a daily allowance4 of voice minutes, texts and picture messages in advance at a special price. Once you’ve used your allowance for that day the cost of the service reverts back to the standard cost for yOur Price plan.

Whichever price plan you choose, all you need to do is buy credit for your phone as often as you need to. There's nothing else to pay and there are no monthly bills to worry about. To change yOur Price plan simply dial 23455 from your Vodafone mobile.

1 Standard calls are classified as standard UK local and national calls, calls to Voicemail and calls to other Vodafone mobile phones. Standard rates apply to these standard calls.
2 Weekends are all day Saturday and Sunday
3 Standard texts are texts of up to 160 characters sent to UK numbers (not premium or reversed charge rate).
4 Unused texts and minutes do not roll over.
5 Calls to our automated helpline are FREE of charge. You pay when transferred to a customer care adviser.

Important information about the Vodafone pay as you talk service
1. GPRS charges detailed are inclusive of VAT per KB and will be rounded up to the nearest penny at the end of the browsing session.

2. The call charges detailed are per minute and will be rounded to the next whole pence with a minimum call of 10p and apply to standard national and local UK calls to fixed phones unless otherwise stated. The above prices refer to standard national and local calls, Voicemail, and calls to other Vodafone mobiles.

3. All call charges are inclusive of VAT. Please allow up to 35 days for the complimentary registration Top Up to be applied to your account. Prices shown for WAP relate to calls made to the Vodafone WAP gateway number 07836 900808. You can call the pay as you talk helpline by dialling 191 from your mobile phone (25p per call when transferred to a customer care advisor) or 08700 77 66 55 (at your telephone provider's national rate) from any other phone. Calls to our automated helplines are free of charge from your pay as you talk phone.

4. The cost for sending a text message is deducted shortly after the message is sent from your pay as you talk phone. Delivery cannot always be guaranteed. A standard text message contains up to 160 characters. Some handsets allow you to send messages of more than 160 characters, in which case the message will be divided into the number of messages of 160 characters required to convey the message and each such message will be charged at the standard text message rate. Receiving a standard text message from another mobile is free within the UK. The cost for sending a text message to a non UK based mobile phone is 24p per message. Additional charges may apply when receiving text messages whilst abroad. Reversed charged text messages will be charged at the appropriate rate.

5. The charges for calls to your Vodafone mobile phone number from a fixed line or other mobile network are set by the other network operator. The standard charges made by BT for a call from a BT fixed line to a Vodafone mobile phone number are: Daytime (Mon-Fri 8am-6pm) 18.92p, Evening (Mon-Fri 6pm-8am) 7.29p and weekend (all day Saturday and Sunday) 3.98p. Total call charges are rounded and VAT added in accordance with BT's current policy. BT's minimum call charge is 5p. Different prices apply to BT discount schemes, BT Public Payphone calls, BT Chargecard cards and calls made via the operator.

6. Using Vodafone MMS you can send long text messages and picture messages. A long text message is limited to a maximum size of 1.5kb (usually about 500 characters although some handsets have a minimum message size greater than this). A picture message is a message between 1.5001Kb and 30kb.
